RTYC - Broty' Boating Rowing Regatta - June 2024
Published 01:00 on 1 Jul 2024
Vital statistics: IO clubs, 11 categories, 19 starts, over 200 competitors and a further 100 plus spectators. Unbroken sunshine and a fresh south westerly wind gusting up to 22knots.
Huge volunteer effort by RTYC on the water with course laying; umpiring; safety boat driving, photography and ashore with registration; umpiring; running the races; stewarding the car park; supervising the railway crossing; driving the tractor; and staffing the beach kitchen.
All the races were run as per programme, the sun shone, the crowd cheered, the rowers really put their backs into it, there were some stand out performances and lots of close finishes. This was a day to remember. It was a real draw for passers by and a splendid advert for watersports on the silvery Tay.
