Adult Intermediate Sailors
Once new sailors have mastered the basics of sailing in the Ancrum dock they can then take a series of courses at the RTYC which will let them progress. Better Sailors, Seamanship, Learn To Race and Dinghy Cruising are all available through the club's pool of volunteer instructors and these are an ideal way of broadening your experience and starting to really enjoy being out on the water. The instructors are all fully qualified and have a wealth of experience.
Thursday evenings from late April to late September are social sailing nights, these are ideal evenings for getting out on the water, building confidence and getting to meet other members. Often we'll have a bring-your-own BBQ at the beach clubhouse afterwards, sometimes with a spectacular sunset.
The club also has some small keelboats called Squibs and these are ideal for the less confident or mobile to take part in Thursday or Saturday sessions.
Saturday mornings are My Club mornings - come along and use the club. Row, sail or SUP. There will often be the option to take part in some Bite-Sized sail training sessions to let you practice particular skills
Other activities include a club picnic to Balmerino, which is a lovely bay past the railway bridge. Hopefully, we'll hold a cruise to Newburgh with an overnight camp as well for the more adventurous.
Club boats are available at a nominal cost to get new members started off and so to start with all you need is trainers and a wetsuit.
The RYA Courses are below, these are either two days over a weekend or a series of four evenings.
Some of our new members from 2022 have now also started sailing with a more experienced member in the club races and have really enjoyed it.
