Scottish Championship and UKIDA (UK Dart Association) traveller event. 8-9 July RTYC
Published 10:08 on 12 Jul 2023
We had 14 Dart 18s 5 travelled from Runswick and Bridlington, East Yorkshire racing 4 races on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.
On Friday evening there was a welcoming BBQ at Glenogle House for our visitors, attended by many of the local sailors and supporting club members.
On Saturday conditions were fast and furious (ideal Dart conditions) with all 4 races won by different sailors. Competition was amazingly close! Dominos Pizzas were the order of the evening- again in our Main Clubhouse
Sunday had to be postponed by an hour to 1200hrs due to no wind, then thankfully a building breeze set in for the remaining 2 races. Grant Mitchell sailed superbly, winning both races and claiming the 2023 Scottish Champion title and cup.
Our UKIDA visitors, some who had visited in prior years, complimented the club on its organisation, hospitality, friendliness and absolutely superb new club house. Already today I have been contacted from folks down south who have heard about the event so word is spreading quickly. A bigger event next year!
4 of the RTYC boats, Duncan, Steve, Gordon and myself will be travelling to the Dart Worlds event 31st July for a week at Bridlington Yorkshire where we will be further representing RTYC.
