NHS - Try Sailing Day

Ready for a new adventure? 

The Royal Tay Yacht Club would like to invite local NHS employees, and their family members or friends, to visit us at the Grassy beach, and try out the various activities we have on offer. 

On Saturday 26th of April, and during various Thursday evenings in May, we are running a series of trial sessions for novices to experience sailing in dinghies and/ or keelboats. You can also have a test drive in one of our powerboats or join a rowing crew in one of our skiffs.  

Our experienced members will ensure you have a safe and exciting experience, and before or after your sail/row, you will be shown around our fabulous facilities, including our state-of-the-art Glenogil clubhouse.  On the Saturday our beach clubhouse catering team offers hot drinks, hot filled rolls and sweet treats for a small price.  

The club is celebrating the 140/150 existence of RTYC (sailing) and Broughty Ferry Boating (rowing), now merged into one RTYC /BFB. We have a summer full of exciting events coming up. We would love to share some of these with the community and promote all the water sports at our doorstep.  

Being part of the club means you get to be on the wonderful Tay River and Estuary, explore the outdoors, discover wildlife, experience all weathers, be active and get fit, challenge yourself in new situations, learn new skills, and meet new people. 

If you are interested all you have to do, is book a slot for one of the sessions and show up on the day. We strongly advise you to leave extra time before/after the session and be our guest in either of the clubhouses or on our grassy beach terrace.  

We will provide safety gear such as life jackets, but we recommend bringing a change of clothes, a towel, and a pair of water shoes or other soft shoes you dont mind getting wet.  

Thursday evening sessions are on 1st May, 8th May, 15th, 22nd and 29th of May. 

You can sign up for the Saturday and any of the Thursday sessions.
