On Board RYAS supported training day

Arranged for RYA Scotland to send up an On Board Tutor to deliver an initial day of training in how to deliver On Board sailing sessions.  Hopefully just the start of developing this locally.  On Board uses games and challenges to teach mainly 8-18 year olds to sail.  Rather than traditional "this is how you learn to tack" sessions the aim is to make it much more fun and the students learn the skills in a very different way. 

It is being rolled out to students taking AI and DI courses and will become part of the way courses are taught.   A couple of folk that I rate highly at RYAS say it transforms how you teach the basic skills and they are very keen to see as many folks involved with it as possible. 

The tutor can take 12 students and we're doing it as a joint collaboration with Ancrum, Sea Cadets, DSC and TST along with any other local interested sailors.  You don't need to be an instructor to take part!  Just have an interest in developing training at your club.   Adults like games too. 

Ancrum is sending 5 folk so clearly see it as being worthwhile, they are an On Board Centre.   Michael from Sea Cadets as well so that leaves 6 spaces for other local clubs.
