Calling every member, this is a great opportunity to celebrate our great club in this jubilee year by taking part in the Grand Parade of Boats. The object is to get as many craft afloat with as many members of all ages in them as possible, hopefully if the weather permits to parade down to Broughty Ferry and back. We want to put on a real show of strength and enjoy ourselves in the process. This applies to all craft, keelboats and Squibs on the moorings and in Tayport, dinghies, our rowing skiffs, rowing boats, kayaks, motor boats etc. If you dont own a boat then make sure you sign up to get in one, either crewing in a members boat or helming or crewing in one of our training boats or indeed our safety boats. Please do not offer any excuses!

Our workboat, MV Relentless, will be the flagship on the day and Admiral Baird will be on board both to inspect the assembled fleet and to lead the parade.

The proposed programme is noted below. It will be a significant logistical exercise to get all launched, afloat, assembled on the water, parading and then back to shore. It will be lots of fun and hopefully a great spectacle. Our former bunting will be available for those who would to dress vessels partially or overall.

Diane and team will be on hand to provide beach catering for participants and those not going afloat who wish to spectate. On return Diane and team will be providing a BBQ.

Timetable

0900-1030     Muster beach/ rig boats

1030                Safety boats/ afloat

Is there a cost for taking part?

There is no cost for taking part and there will be no charge for training boats. The only cost is we hope that you will spend lots on food and beverages as well as bringing along your own fortification for the BBQ. Diane and team are providing a great choice of BBQ food with accompaniments at really keen prices…..great value for money.

What do you need to do?

(1) support the event with your own boat/craft

(2) sign up to helm/crew a training boat (there is no charge) - see link above

(3) sign up to provide safety cover - see link above

(4) order your BBQ food but pay on the day

(5) turn up, participate and have fun

Pre-registration and pre-booking of BBQ food will help us plan and manage the event.

What if the weather prevents us from going afloat?

We will still meet up and have fun….see if we can display our boats all the way along Grassy Beach…have our BBQ.

Are family and friends welcome?

Yes of course although getting afloat is really restricted to those who have a little experience. Members with their own boats can decide for themselves.

Can Social Members take part?

We would be delighted to see you afloat but you are very welcome to join in the celebration at the beach and the BBQ.

Remember Glenogil House outside on the terrace or inside is available for relaxed viewing. Your BBQ food etc can be enjoyed there too along with a glass or two

You are reminded…please no excuses, MAXIMUM PARTICIPATION, MAXIMUM FUN.
